Muslims say they believe in Jesus; however, they do not believe in the Jesus of history. There are two essential things Muslims do not believe about Jesus: (1) Muslims do not believe what Jesus taught about His death on the cross; (2) Muslims do not believe what Jesus taught about the Bible.

A hadith (plural ahadith) is an account of what Muhammad said or did, or of his tacit approval of something said or done in his presence (Encyclopaedia of Islam). It is important to study the hadiths because they are part of the sayings, actions, and approvals of Muhammad (sunnah). Muslims sometimes say, “Know that Islam is the Sunnah, and the Sunnah is Islam” meaning that one cannot be established without the other.

Hadith 01 from Imam Nawawi
Hadiths are foundational to Islam. There importance is emphasized in the saying, ”Whoever embarks upon it achieves salvation and whoever rejects it is drowned.” There are thousands of hadiths and I’m limiting this study to a famous collection of forty hadity by Nawawi. Ali Gomaa says Nawawi’s “Forty Hadith” is “one of the best books written” about the hadith.

Hadiths are sayings attributed to Muhammad and descriptions of his deeds. There are thousands of ahidith, some more reliable (strong) than others (weak). In this first video the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Ali Gomaa, gives a short biography of Nawawi and introduces his important work, “Forty Hadiths”.
